KDA INJURY PREVENTION PROGRAM
ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Injury prevention is an essential component for any dance school, and KDA is proud to integrate injury prevention practices into all aspects of our training.
PREVENTION IS KEY
KDA’s focus on PREVENTION allows our students to safely and sustainably reach high levels of technical proficiency. This includes our focus on diversification, strength, placement, accuracy, and rest. Communication is welcome and encouraged, and students are taught to listen to their body’s signals and take a proactive approach to their health and safety.
QUALIFIED TEACHERS
In 2024, Ms Carolyn completed the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries’ course in Injury Prevention. She not only passed with flying colors, but Kailua Dance Academy’s program was consistently praised during the course for its seamless integration of injury prevention practices! Her Injury Prevention Class is held annually at KDA, as well as during our Summer Intensive.
WHY IT’S IMPORTANT
Ballet, like all physical activities, carries risks of injury. But these risks increase exponentially under certain conditions, often associated with outdated teaching practices and mindsets. At KDA, we embrace the emerging science of sports medicine and are constantly seeking to provide our students with the most up-to-date skills in keeping their bodies safe and healthy.
